The Cabinet provides training at various levels for agency employees.  They assist with the implementation of mandatory trainings and develop other training programs that will benefit the growth and development of the agency and the employees.

A new employee programs will be implemented in January 2010 that will provide guidance in how employees will be oriented to offices within the agency.  This program is in conjunction with the current new employee orientation programs provided by the agency and is meant to enhance our current programs rather than replacing them.

A leadership programs for current managers will be implemented beginning October 2009.  This training is mandatory for all managers, is approximately one year in length and includes four face-to-face meetings along with twelve online training programs.  Managers who have completed the Certified Public Manager Program, the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation ALEAP program or the Georgia State University leadership program are exempt, but may take courses in the program that are of interest to them for professional development.

Performance Matters Training

Performance Matters training is a required training for all state government personnel that supervises another individual and complete or assists with the completion of an employee evaluation on that person. The course is offered through the state Personnel Cabinet and registration is required for this training. The training is most often held in Frankfort and is from 8:30 to 4:30. Please contact the HRD Program Administrator/Training Liaison for registration.

Governmental Training Center

Currently employees register for training at GSC through the HRD Program Administrator. When KHRIS is fully activated employees will use the Employee Self-Service portion of that program to request registration for a GSC course. The course request will be verified electronically by the employee supervisor in order to be fully enrolled in the program. An automated email will notify the employee of successful enrollment in the course.

Costs for the course(s) are paid through the HRD budget, but travel costs associated with the training are the responsibility of the district, division or branch.

Kentucky Employee Assistance Program

The courses and services offered through KEAP are provided at no cost to an employee. Currently employees register for these courses through the HRD Program Administrator and agency training liaison. When KHRIS is fully activated employees will register through Employee Self Service. As with GSC courses the cost for participation in the class is paid through the HRD Budget and costs associated with travel to the course are paid through the district, division or branch budget.
