Tuition Assistance

Tuition assistance is available to Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors through Comprehensive System of Personnel Development (CSPD) Scholarships at several universities. 

We are fortunate that the University of Kentucky Master of Rehabilitation Counseling program online program is the recipient of one of the CSPD scholarships for vocational rehabilitation counselors.  Employees interested in participating in this program should make contact with the HRD Program Administrator to obtain more information regarding these programs.  Employees may contact the university directly to express their interest and obtain the necessary forms for scholarship requests.  Please use the link on the right of this page to access the UK MRC program website.  Applications must meet the university deadlines to be eligible for the grant.

In addition to the UK program the employees of OVR also have access to several programs out of state.  Auburn University and Virginia Commonwealth University also offer CSPD grants for vocational rehabilitation counselors.  Each of these schools require a visit to the campus each semester.  Employees accepted into these programs through the CSPD scholarship may request out-of-state travel from the agency to avoid the need to take leave in order to participate in the face-to-face component.  The travel request must be completed and sent to the Executive Director of the agency for approval.  The form must be received by the Executive Director for signature no less than 30 days in advance of the travel date.  This must be completed each semester that travel is required.

At times there are CSPD grants available through San Diego State/Northwest Texas MRC programs as well as Southern University in Louisiana.  These programs are also online, but do not require travel to the campus.  When these schools have CSPD scholarships available an email announcement is sent out to determine if there are any counselors interested in participating in this program.
